Intimate Worlds - EBA 18th Annual Open Studio
For the past 18 years when October arrives, the artists that work at the
Enriched Bread Artists studios turn their intimate worlds upside down to
see what may have accumulated. Keenly aware that company will soon be
coming, this ritual prepares the spaces for public consumption.
This year the Enriched Bread Artists invited award winning Ottawa
photographer Justin Wonnacott (R.C.A.) to document our studios prior to
preparing them for our annual public extravaganza. This photographic
essay will capture the intimate working environments that the general
public seldom sees.
Panel Discussion: The Visual Arts in Ottawa: a time for change?
Panel Discussion with Andrea Fitzpatrick, Patrick Mikhail, Peter Honeywell and Heather Anderson
Moderated by EBA artist Andrew Morrow
Friday, October 22, 2010, 7:00 – 8:30 pm
The Visual Arts in Ottawa: A Time for Change? is an open and informal panel discussion addressing the visual arts in Ottawa. Featured panelists are Peter Honeywell (Executive Director of the Council for the Arts in Ottawa), Patrick Mikhail (director of the Patrick Mikhail gallery), Heather Anderson (Assistant Curator in the Contemporary Art Department at the National Gallery of Canada), and Andrea Fitzpatrick (Assistant Professor in the History and Theory of Art, Department of Visual Arts at the University of Ottawa.) Topics will address a variety of contemporary issues, including regional opportunities, funding, audience engagement, the National Gallery, external relevance, and the possibilities of going forward. Audience participation will be strongly encouraged. Moderated by EBA artist Andrew Morrow. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
Performance: You tube Sensation
Indie Rock Performance with EBA Artist Danny Hussey Friday, October 29, 2010, 8:00 – 9:00 pm
In what is becoming a bit of an EBA Open Studio tradition, Danny Hussey will perform a subsonic set of original music with a few obscure cover tunes thrown in for good measure. This will be the third consecutive year Hussey has performed using his unique style. This year’s performance entitled YOUTUBE SENSATION will delve into the self producing, self promoting, overnight internet sensations that permeate our culture. Here today gone tomorrow, the modern day one hit wonders. Hussey will perform in front of a laptop web cam while a live audience voyeuristically looks on. This performance will introduce at least 5 new songs including one about Lucy Van Oldenbarneveld, and some favourites from past shows. One of those nights you will say, `` I was there when…………..``Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
