Enriched Bread Artists

Member's bio: Juliana McDonald

Juliana McDonald, BFA, is a landscape artist exploring concepts of impermanence, fragility and renewal in the natural environment. The surfaces of both her oil paintings and collages are richly active evoking layers of time and memory. Paintings are textured by building up layers of oil paint with a palette knife. Collages of translucent papers tinted with acrylic paint are torn, crinkled, folded, woven, and reassembled to create fragile, floating constructions.
McDonald is a Fine Arts graduate from the University of Ottawa, magna cum laude (2000). Solo exhibitions include Snapdragon and Artguise galleries, the Sussex Gallery and the Cumberland Gallery in Ottawa, and the Philip K. Wood Gallery in Almonte, Ontario. Group exhibitions include the Cube and the Karsh-Masson galleries in Ottawa. Her work appears in the City of Ottawa art collection, as well as corporate and private collections. Currently, McDonald is preparing for a solo exhibition at the Museum of Nature in Ottawa to be held in 2011.
