Sayward Johnson

Sayward Johnson is a textile artist who works primarily with copper and copper alloys. She is interested in copper’s metaphoric and mutable qualities, in its ability to serve as a metaphor for the human experience, and the ability of a single wire to transform into a larger, stronger entity.

Johnson is a graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. She has exhibited across Canada and her work is included in collections in the USA, Canada, and Europe. Her work has received support from Craft Ontario, the Ontario Art Council, the City of Ottawa and the Canada Council for the Arts.
