Tavi Weisz creates paintings that are the result of a process of translation, visually filtering an image through his own memories into paint. The artist is altering, manipulating coherent images and creating representations that do not conform with the viewer’s expectations or with cultural conventions.
Weisz attained his BFA in Cluj, Romania and his MFA in Budapest, Hungary. He has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Canada and Europe, and has received professional grants from the Ontario Arts Council and the City of Ottawa. He is represented by Gallery St. Laurent and Hill.
